India is gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, which are barely months away, there are several speculations that this time we could see another Bollywood star in the polling race. Now,  you would be thinking who? It's none other than Manoj Bajpayee. Yes! many reports suggest on social media that he would contest in the general elections.

Is Manoj Bajpayee going to contest Lok Sabha elections?

Interestingly, Manoj Bajpayee has opened up on this and swiftly dismissed speculation that he plans to enter politics and stand as a parliamentary candidate in this year's Lok Sabha elections.

Reports circulated suggesting the Bihar-born star was poised to contest the West Champaran constituency for the opposition INDIA alliance. The seat is currently held by the BJP.
But taking to social media platform X, Bajpayee rubbished the claims, asking who was spreading the rumour and if they had simply dreamt it up overnight.

The 'Gangs of Wasseypur' actor previously shot down similar reports last June while promoting his film 'Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai' in West Champaran, his home district. He told media outlets he was "200% sure" he would not be joining politics despite meeting regional party leaders on recent visits to Bihar.

Speaking to a news agency, Bajpayee had said, "When I visited Bihar last time, I met RJD chief Lalu Prasad, his son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. Since then, people have started speculating that I will join politics. I am 200 per cent sure that I won't. The question of joining politics doesn't arise at all."

"I am an actor and will remain an actor only," asserted Bajpayee, a three-time National Award winner. "How does this question of joining politics arise?"

Now 54, the 'Family Man' star hails from Belwa village in Bihar but has firmly closed the door on taking up politics as a second career.
