Manohar Lal Khattar resigned as MLA from the Karnal assembly constituency on Wednesday, one day after he resigned as the chief minister of Haryana. Khattar has been Karnal's representative since 2014. In the 2019 assembly elections for Haryana, he kept his seat.
There are rumours that Khattar would run for office from the Karnal Lok Sabha seat. He declared that he would carry out whatever task assigned to him by the BJP with diligence. Before the publication of the BJP's second list of candidates, which is anticipated this week, Khattar tendered his resignation.
The BJP has decided to run for each of Haryana's ten parliamentary seats. The saffron party secured every seat in 2019. The JJP's desire to run for two Lok Sabha seats caused the BJP-JJP alliance to fall apart. Sanjay Bhatia is the current member of the Karnal Lok Sabha. He defeated Kuldip Sharma of the Congress party to win the seat. It took Bhatia more than 6.5 lakh votes to win the seat. This seat was won by the BJP by more than 3.5 lakh votes in 2014.
