According to the latest updates, members of the Kuki community are holding a protest outside the residence of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the ongoing clashes in the north-eastern state and demands to meet him.

The protesters were holding placards, which says ‘Save Kuki Lives’ and raising slogans. One of the police officials confirmed that only four members are allowed inside the residence of the Union Minister and the rest were shifted to Jantar Mantar.

Notably, ethnic violence in Manipur, which started a month ago, has resulted in 98 fatalities and 310 injuries. There are currently 272 relief camps housing a total of 37,450 persons throughout the state.

On May 3, when a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was arranged throughout the hill regions to protest against the Meitei community’s desire for Scheduled Tribe (ST) classification, fighting first broke out in Manipur.
