In a sweeping move, the Ministry of Home Affairs has reimposed AFSPA across Manipur, blanketing the state with extraordinary military powers except in 13 designated police station areas. 

Singh, who was heading the BJP-led government in Manipur since 2017, resigned as Chief Minister after nearly 21 months of ethnic violence that has claimed more than 250 lives since May 2023.

AFSPA provides special powers to the forces
The AFSPA grants special powers to the forces to maintain public order in 'disturbed areas'. It has faced a lot of scrutiny for giving sweeping powers to the forces.

Security forces launched a search operation
Security forces conducted search operation, recovered several arms and ammunition, According to ANI report, Security forces on Saturday conducted search operation in the border and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts in Manipur and captured the area, security forces also recovered several arms and ammunition.
