According to the latest information from the officials, on Saturday two civilians were hurt during the overnight clashes between mobs and security personnel in Imphal town as well as efforts to set BJP leaders’ homes on fire.

Throughout the night, automatic gunfire was heard coming from Kwakta in Manipur’s Bishnupur district and Kangvai in Churachandpur district in separate occurrences.

Additionally, a burglary attempt was undertaken at Imphal West’s Iringbam police station. No weapons, nevertheless, were taken. To prevent rioters from gathering, the Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Rapid Action Force performed coordinated marches around the state capital until midnight.

A mob of about 1,000 individuals gathered to attempt to set fire to structures close to the palace grounds. To scatter the gathering, the RAF used rubber bullets and tear gas.

There were also reports of a mob buildup near Manipur University. At 10.40 pm, 200 to 300 individuals gathered near Thongju and attempted to vandalise the local MLA’s home. The crowd was dispersed by an RAF column.

Last night, a second mob attempted to rob the Iringbam Police Station’s armoury in the Imphal West neighbourhood. At 11.40 pm, 300 to 400 people tried to rob the Police Station, but no firearms were taken. The RAF dispersed away the crowd.

Army reports claim that 200 to 300 people encircled the BJP office in Sinjemai just after midnight before being dispersed by an Army column.

The Army and RAF stopped the mob’s attempt at destruction at the state BJP president A Sarda Devi’s home near Porampet, Imphal West, around midnight. As per Army sources, the crowd dispersed.
