New Delhi: In an attack that took place in Manipur, suspected Kuki militants ambushed a joint team of CRPF and Jiribam District Police, comprising 20 Battalion CRPF personnel at approximately 9:40 AM on Sunday. The attack ended in the death of one CRPF jawan and injuring a Manipur police officer.According to police reports, the joint security team was heading to Morbung Village in Jiribam District to conduct a search operation related to a shooting incident that took place on July 13, when they were ambushed. One CRPF jawan and a sub-inspector (SI) from Jiribam Police Station were injured in the attack, with the CRPF jawan later surrendering to a fatal head wound. According to police, SI Romendro sustained bullet injuries to his right knee and left-hand middle finger and is currently receiving treatment at the 50-bed hospital in Jiribam.Video surfacesA vide was posted on scoial media platform X by a user named Khuraijam Athouba, who posted the video at the time of ambush.
