Manipur violence which started in the month of May has taken several lives so far. According to the information, on Thursday, representative of a Meitei group met the defence minister Rajnath Singh seeking the removal of Assam Rifles from the ethnic violence-hit state.

According to the latest information, the statement was released by a dominant Meitei group said that Delhi Meitei Coordinating Committee (DMCC) around midnight that they met Rajnath Singh at his residence and demanded for the replacement of Assam Rifles.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), has sought the removal of Assam Rifles claiming that the force was biased. Apart from this, a group of Meitei women also held a series of protests against the force.

As per information, the representatives of COCOMI have met Union home minister Amit Shah at least thrice since ethnic violence was triggered in May. The violence has taken more than 150 lives and left around 50,000 displaced.
