The Manipur police on Friday made another arrest in the horrific incident of women being paraded naked and sexual assault case. The fifth arrest has been made in the case after the viral video got surfaced on Wednesday. Four arrests were made before this on Thursday by the police.
According to the sources, the fifth accused have been identified as Yumlembam Nungsithoi Metei, aged 19.
The four accused that were arrested on Thursday have been sent to 11-day police custody. Notably, the viral video triggered massive outrage in the country and the Parliament during the ongoing monsoon session.
Meanwhile, fresh violence has been reported in Imphal after women protestors blocked both sides of a main road in the Ghari area asking for prompt action in the case.
On Thursday, the house of the main accused who paraded the women naked in the viral video was set on fire by women of Petchi village.
Just after two days before a complaint was filed in connection with the heinous crime of two Manipuri women being stripped and paraded in Manipur, another FIR got registered in the same police station in connection with the abduction, rape, and murder of two more Kuki women. However, no arrest has been made in the case so far.
