New Delhi: A man in his early 20s managed to scale the wall and breach the Parliament Annexe premises on Friday afternoon. Official sources reported that the incident occurred around 2:45 PM, with the man identified as Manish, a resident of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

A video circulating on social media shows the suspect, dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, being apprehended by armed personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who are responsible for the security of the Parliament complex. Upon frisking, nothing incriminating was found on the man. He was handed over to the Delhi Police for further investigation.

Incident details

The breach occurred near Imtiaz Khan Marg when the suspect scaled the wall and entered the secure premises. The CISF personnel, noticing the unauthorized entry, immediately contacted the Police Control Room (PCR) and informed local authorities. A police team quickly arrived at the scene and took Manish into custody for questioning.

Police investigation underway

A senior officer from the Delhi Police mentioned that they are currently investigating how the suspect managed to scale the wall and enter the high-security area. CCTV footage is being reviewed to gather more details. The officer noted that the man appeared to be mentally unstable, as he struggled to provide coherent information during questioning.

Previous security lapses

This breach comes on the heels of a similar incident last December, when two men jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery, releasing yellow-colored smoke canisters, causing panic among the MPs. Following that incident, internal security at the Parliament complex, including the Annexe, was handed over to the CISF, with the Delhi Police maintaining external security responsibilities.
