A distressing incident has come to light in Chamoli district, where a soldier is accused of a reprehensible act. The accused allegedly befriended a married woman, sexually assaulted her, and then brazenly shared the video of the assault with her husband, who resides abroad. Prompted by the victims courageous complaint, authorities at the Rajpur police station registered a case on Monday. An intensive investigation has been launched to bring the perpetrator to justice and ensure the safety of the victim.What are accusations against Sunil RawatAs per the victims account, the accused, identified as Sunil Rawat, initiated contact through a social media platform. In June 2023, Rawat purportedly visited the victims residence, where he committed the alleged assault and recorded it on his mobile device. He came to the victims house a few days later. During this, pressure was put on them to have a relationship by showing obscene videos. He used to do it often. The victim further alleges that Rawat coerced her into subsequent encounters through intimidation.Escalation of MiseryThe situation took a grave turn when Rawat purportedly broadcasted the video of the assault on social media and directly sent it to the victims husband. This appalling act not only inflicted emotional trauma upon the victim and her husband but also subjected them to public humiliation and verbal abuse.Senior Officer PD Bhatt, heading the investigation at Rajpur police station, confirmed the registration of a case against Sunil Rawat. Law enforcement authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend Rawat.
