A shocking incident happened inside the Delhi-bound Sealdah Rajdhani Express on Thursday, when a man opened fire after which he was arrested and made to deboard the train. During this firing incident, no one was injured inside the train, said the Railway Police.

Man opens fire inside Sealdah Rajdhani Express

According to the police, they are investigating if the accused man, identified as 41-year-old Harvinder Singh, was intoxicated when he allegedly opened fire on the train. His blood samples have been sent for testing, they added. Reportedly, an argument ensued between the accused passenger and the coach attendant following which, he fired from his pistol, as per the Eastern Railways officials.

Speaking to the media, a lawyer who was onboard the Sealdah Rajdhani Express – running from Kolkata to Delhi, said that the passengers were still scared and wanted the train to be searched thoroughly.

Similar firing incident in train

A similar incident occurred in July, a train firing incident took place onboard the Jaipur Mumbai Central Superfast Express near Palghar station.

On July 31, former Railway Protection Force constable Chetansinh Chaudhary allegedly shot dead his superior, Tikaram Meena, and three passengers on the train.

Chaudhary was apprehended with the weapon allegedly used for the crime and was charged with murder, kidnapping, and a violation of Indian Penal Code section 153A, which pertains to inciting enmity between various groups based on religion and other grounds.
