New Delhi: A man in Chitrakoot district, Uttar Pradesh, has been found dead on railway tracks, sparking outrage and allegations of police misconduct. An FIR has been lodged against the whole police station. The deceased, identified as 27-year-old Anshu, was allegedly brought to the Manikpur police station on Sunday evening for creating a disturbance during a Moharram procession while intoxicated.
According to Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh, CCTV footage from the police station shows Anshu arriving in an e-rickshaw around 7 pm on Sunday. Disturbingly, the footage also captures him running out of the station within just nine minutes. This raises serious questions about the actions of the officers on duty and their adherence to protocol.
The police's apparent failure to take any immediate action to locate Anshu after his escape highlights a potential lapse in their duty of care. Following the discovery of Anshu's body on the railway tracks, the authorities have taken swift action. Four police personnel, including Station House Officer (SHO) Vinod Shukla, head constable Veer Singh, and constables Pramod Paswan and Ankit Rajput, have been suspended. Additionally, an FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against them, indicating a potential investigation into their conduct.
This incident has understandably caused public anxiety and demands for transparency. A thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Anshu's death is essential to ensure accountability and prevent similar tragedies in the future. This is a live example of police brutality. The public deserves to know what transpired at the police station and whether Anshu's death could have been prevented.
