New Delhi: A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut where three Hindu sadhus identified as Gaurav, Gopi and Sunil from Haryana's Yamunanagar, were brutally attacked by a man who assumed that they were Muslims and ran a child kidnapping racket. The sadhus, who follow the Nath sect were wrongly accused of posing as Hindu ascetics while being Muslims.

Brutal attack stems from presumption

This presumption led to a terrifying experience where they were physically assaulted and threatened. The police intervened and took the victims to the station, where investigations revealed the allegations were baseless. The sadhus were confirmed to be devout Hindus practicing traditional customs like alms-seeking. Despite their innocence, those responsible for the assault remain at large, with no arrests made.

A shocking video of the incident surfaced across social media in which it can be seen that the sadhus were brutally beaten with sticks while being questionied about their religious beliefs and knowledge of Hindu scriptures like the Hanuman Chalisa.

Police denial contradicts evidence

The local police denied any hostage-taking or physical assault, contradicting visual evidence. This incident shows concerns about communal tensions, mistaken identities and the need for fast and impartial action by law enforcement to uphold justice and protect vulnerable communities.

The assault on the sadhus represents a grave violation of their rights and a disturbing trend where misinformation and prejudice can escalate into violence unchecked. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen how authorities will address this alarming incident, ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
