The girls mother filed a complaint with the local police, prompting a swift investigation.Allegations against local residentThe Kotwali police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against 27-year-old Sanjay Pal, a resident of Haripur Shivdatt on Bareilly Road. Authorities apprehended Pal on Saturday as he traveled from Delhi to Haldwani. Following a court order, he has been remanded to jail pending further proceedings.Grooming and manipulationAccording to police reports, Sanjay Pal worked at his uncles chicken shop in the TP Nagar area and allegedly lured the eighth-grade student into a sexual relationship by promising her affection and attention. He reportedly coerced her into sexual acts multiple times and even provided her with a SIM card for private communication.Victims mother takes actionThe victims mother grew suspicious upon discovering her daughters relationship with Pal and confiscated her mobile phone. In a distressing turn of events, the accuseds family sent the girl to work at a hotel in Delhi in an attempt to distance her from the situation. Concerned for her daughters well-being, the mother arranged for a medical examination, which confirmed the pregnancy. Upon learning of the situation, the girls mother sought an abortion however, the victim ran away to reunite with Sanjay in Delhi. The family ultimately brought her back home, and following the mothers complaint, the police took immediate action, leading to Sanjay Pals arrest. This case has sparked outrage and highlights the urgent need for stronger protections for minors against sexual exploitation.
