New Delhi: In a harrowing case from Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly, a woman was deceived into a relationship on the promise of marriage, subsequently gang-raped, and later divorced by her husband after being shown an obscene video by her former lover. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice.
The victim, residing in the Bhojipura area, recounted that her neighbor initially lured her into a relationship with false promises of marriage. Under this pretense, he repeatedly raped her. When she refused further advances, he orchestrated a gang rape involving a relative and a friend.
Following these traumatic events, the victim’s family arranged her marriage to another man. However, after she moved in with her in-laws, her former lover and his accomplice showed an obscene video of her to her new husband. This led to her divorce on May 20, 2023.
Desperate for justice, the victim confronted her lover's family on May 24, pleading for marriage. Instead, she faced further violence. The lover's parents and other relatives beat her, tore her clothes, and threw her out of the house. A video of this assault has gone viral on social media, amplifying the call for justice.
The victim has filed a complaint with the Bhojipura police station, demanding action against her assailants. The police are currently investigating the case, which has drawn significant public attention and condemnation.
