New Delhi: A young woman from Delhi has filed a police complaint against her fiance in Greater Noida, accusing him of drugging her, taking obscene photographs, and circulating them on social media.The incident took place in Purvanchal Royal Society, Sector Chai-5, Greater Noida. The victim, a resident of Delhi, reportedly befriended another woman from Greater Noida on Instagram. Their friendship progressed to visits to each others homes.Friendship turns into betrayalIn May 2022, on the victims birthday, the friend from Greater Noida visited her home with her brother. This encounter sparked communication between the victim and the friends brother via Instagram. The accuseds family, according to the victim, approached her family soon after with a marriage proposal, which was accepted. The couple got engaged in May 2023.Calls her homeFollowing the engagement ceremony, the victims family presented the accuseds family with a shagun (blessing money) of Rs 25 lakh. The victim alleges that her fiance then invited her to his flat in Greater Noida. There, he allegedly spiked her cold drink with an unknown substance, rendering her unconscious. He then reportedly took compromising photographs of her.Police investigation underwayBased on the victims complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused fiance, his sister, and his parents. Investigations are currently underway.Dowry dispute leads to murderIn a separate incident, the police in Greater Noida arrested a man accused of murdering his wife by electrocution in the New Abadi locality of Dadri town. The motive is suspected to be non-fulfillment of dowry demands. Reports suggest a heated argument erupted over dowry during the couples visit to the accuseds uncles house. The uncle, aunt, and the husband are alleged to have collaborated in the womans murder.The victims father, Shahid, a resident of Bulandshahr districts Bibinagar police station, filed a case. The accused husband, Shoaib, a resident of Dasna, has been apprehended and jailed. The remaining accused are at large.
