Mamata Banerjee dandiya dance: West bengal CM joins Holi festivities with enthusiastic performance

As Holi celebrations engulf the nation, the colorfully festive spirit has also swept over Kolkata. With the festival of colors having been celebrated on March 14 this year, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also joined in the festive mood at a Holi Milan. She was seen energetically playing dandiya with women and later grooving to the beats of Daler Mehndi’s iconic song ‘Bolo Ta Ra Ra.’ Her spirited dance performance left the audience in awe, adding a special charm to the celebration.

One of the event videos showed the Chief Minister dancing energetically along with women, reveling in the festive atmosphere of Holi. She was also part of a group doing bhangra later on, talking about her enthusiasm for festival life. In her speech at the event, she stressed celebrating all Indian festivals as one unit, to drive home the message of unity and harmony.

Message of religious freedom and unity

Speaking in Bengali, Mamata Banerjee underlined the cultural nature of Bengal and said, "This is the way Bengal celebrates and also a reflection of India's culture. One should be given the freedom to be of his religion and should never be swayed by other people's words." She made it categorically clear that Bengal is always a place where all types of communities peacefully live together irrespective of the attempts of some in bringing enmity.

Bengal's contribution to national and regional politics

Banerjee explained Bengal's significance further by saying that Bengal is a gateway to Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan. "If Bengal is peaceful, India is safe. Bengal is politically and geographically important. We are a people who believe in love, harmony, and peace. If any unrest happens in Bengal, the whole country is disturbed, and all should keep it in mind," she said.

Her words and presence at the Holi Milan event had touched the hearts of the audience, supporting her message of harmony and interfaith harmony.
