Bandra Station stampede: A chaotic stampede unfolded on Platform No. 1 of Bandra Terminus early Sunday morning, injuring nine passengers, with two individuals reported to be in critical condition. The incident occurred around 5:56 a.m., coinciding with a large crowd attempting to board the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express, which was scheduled to depart at 5:10 a.m.

The sudden influx of passengers led to panic and a rush on the platform, ultimately resulting in a stampede that left many injured. As the train's early-morning departure time approached, the platform had already become crowded, exacerbating the situation. In the aftermath videos that surfaced following the stampede, police officials and other railway staff were seen carrying the injured to get them medical assisstance.

Details of the injured individuals

Dr. Ritesh, a medical officer at Bandra Bhaba Hospital, confirmed that nine passengers were admitted for treatment following the stampede. Among those reported stable are Shabbir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kangay (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), and Mohammad Shareef Shaikh (25). However, two individuals, Indrajith Sahani (19) and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18), remain in critical condition and are under close medical observation.

The incident highlights the pressing need for improved crowd management at busy railway stations to prevent such emergencies in the future.
