Rohini Fire Incident
National News: A fierce fire in Delhi's Rohini area on Sunday morning burnt more than 800 slums spread over an area of about five acres to ashes. In this accident, two innocent children died tragically and five people were injured. On receiving the information of the incident, Delhi Fire Service was sent to the spot, who managed to control the fire after three hours of hard work, but by then there was a huge loss.
According to Delhi Fire Service officials, they were informed of the fire at around 11:55 am. The intensity of the spread of the fire was so much that it spread to the whole area. The source of the fire took place in a slum, causing the rest of the slums to be in the grip of fire.
Delhi Fire Service sent 17 fire tenders to control the situation at the scene. When the intensity of the fire was gauged, it was declared a 'medium -class fire' and after that additional 9 fire engines were sent. Overall, 26 fire tenders were deployed at the scene. The rescue operation took a long time as an apartment had boundary walls in the area, causing the fire engine to stand one after the other, which delayed the rescue.
Delhi Police DCP Amit Goyal said that two children were scorched in the fire. One child was 2.5 years old, while the second child was 3 years old. Both children died on the spot. In addition, 5 people have been seriously injured in this fire, who have been admitted to the nearest hospital.
Initial investigation by Delhi Fire Service officials said that there was no systematic wiring of electricity in the area and many LPG cylinders were also found, which could be helpful in spreading fire. The police team has also reached the spot to investigate the case. Special investigation is being done to find out the cause of the fire.
There are dense settlements in this area of Rohini, and the lives of the people living in these settlements have already been quite struggling. The incident of this fire has further increased their difficulties. The local administration has provided temporary housing and relief to the affected families, but despite this, the pain and brunt of this horrific accident will last longer for these people.
The fire has been controlled, but the damage done so far will take a long time to compensate. This incident not only touched two families forever, but has also given a serious warning to the entire region that deep safety measures are required to avoid such accidents.
