Plane bomb threat: The series of bomb threats to aircraft in India shows no signs of slowing down. In a new wave, 85 planes from major airlines have received threats of bombing. Among the affected flights, 20 belong to Air India, 20 to Vistara, 25 to Indigo, and 20 to Akasa. This troubling pattern has emerged after similar threats surfaced only a few days ago, raising concerns within the aviation sector.

285 bomb threats so far

In recent weeks, Indian airlines have been plagued by bomb threats. With the latest 85 planes added to the count, a total of 285 aircraft have faced these threats. Thankfully, no explosives or dangerous items have been found on any of the planes so far. However, the continued threats have caused significant disruptions to flights and considerable inconvenience to passengers, leading to growing concerns across the industry.

Financial impact on multiple airlines

According to officials from the Civil Aviation Ministry, the ongoing bomb threats have already caused a financial loss of over Rs 500 crore. Planes are forced to land at nearby airports, leading to higher fuel consumption and unplanned costs. In addition, rechecking aircraft, accommodating passengers in hotels, and arranging alternative transportation have further increased the financial strain on airlines. Emergency landings also incur parking charges at airports, and airlines must provide passengers with meals and refreshments during these delays.

Government investigation ordered

The central government has taken the issue seriously and ordered an investigation into the repeated bomb threats. Authorities are looking into the source of these threats, as airline companies and passengers alike continue to face growing disruptions. The daily threats not only compromise safety but also have a lasting impact on the aviation industry’s operational efficiency.
