India News: A major accident occurred on Saturday morning in Mustafabad area of North-East Delhi, when a four-story residential building suddenly collapsed. The incident occurred at around 2:39 am when people were in deep sleep. So far, 11 people have been confirmed dead in the accident, and many others have been seriously injured. Eight among the dead were from the same family, which has shocked the entire area.

Death in sleep, no chance to recover

According to primary information, 22 people were present in the building at the time of the accident. Suddenly the sound of the collapsing building woke up the people around, but the people living inside could not even recover. The dead include the landlord, Tehsin (60), his wife, Shahina (28); his son, Nazim (30); his daughter-in-lawChandni (23), and his three young children. In addition, Reshma (38), Ishaq (75), Danish (23) and other people named Naved (17) also became victims of the accident.

Was Ongoing Construction Work Behind the Mustafabad Building Collapse

Local people and administration suspect that the illegal construction on the ground floor of the building could be an important reason for the accident. Eyewitnesses say that recently the shops adjacent to the foundation of the building were sabotaging the construction, due to which the walls had already started to crack. Many people also lodged complaints in time, but no concrete action was taken.

Problems coming in rescue operations

Teams of NDRF and Delhi Fire Service immediately reached the spot after the incident. But due to the narrow streets and dense population of Mustafabad, there were a lot of difficulties in relief work. Despite this, more than 20 people have been evacuated from the debris so far. Rescue parties suspect that some people may still be under the rubble.

Government and administration response

Expressing grief over the accident, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wrote on social media that a high-level inquiry into the incident has been ordered. At the same time, Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker and local MLA Mohan Singh Bisht accused the MCD of negligence, saying that he had already warned about the dangerous situation of this building but was ignored.

Administration under the circle of questions

The incident has raised questions about the functioning of the municipal corporation and other responsible agencies. Could this accident be avoided? Had there been a ban on construction work in time, there would have been 11 lives today. The answer to all these questions will now be revealed only after the investigation is completed.

Need for concrete steps

Such incidents occur due to dilapidated buildings and illegal construction in the metropolis like Delhi. The government and the municipal corporation will now have to take strictness. Also, people also need to be cautious so that any possible threat can be avoided in time.
