Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra has once again approached the Delhi High Court in response to the Directorate of Estate's notice instructing her to vacate a government bungalow in the national capital.

The Directorate of Estates, responsible for managing and maintaining the Central government's official and residential properties, issued the notice because of Moitra's expulsion from the Lok Sabha last year. The bungalow had been allotted to her as a Member of Parliament, and since she is no longer in that position, the department has requested her to vacate the premises.

Following the eviction notice, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry reportedly sent another notice to Mahua Moitra. The ministry aims to ensure prompt vacation of the government bungalow.

Moitra's expulsion from the Lok Sabha last month was related to allegations of misconduct. The Ethics Committee found her guilty of sharing her parliamentary website's login credentials with businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for bribes.

Moitra defended herself by stating that she shared the details only to have Hiranandani's staff type out her questions on the portal, and she denied any established money trail.

The Directorate of Estates had initially instructed her to vacate the house by January 7, sending several notices subsequently. On January 4, the Delhi High Court advised Mahua Moitra to seek permission from the Directorate of Estates to continue occupying the government accommodation allotted to her. The court acknowledged that, according to rules, authorities can permit residents to overstay for up to six months, leaving the decision on her case to the discretion of the Directorate of Estates.
