Maharashtra: Woman cow herder found dead with throat slit, search for accused on

The victim was into cow herding business in Ekalvihir under Varud-taluka and has been grazing the cows for the last 20 to 30 years. The incident came to light when the deceased's husband Shalikram Dhurve got to know that his wife did not return home after grazing in the field.

A tragic incident has been reported from Maharashtra’s Amravati where a 40-year-old woman who has been identified as Nalini was found with her throat slit in the forest near the village cemetery at around 7:30 pm on Thursday. The incident took place in Ekalvihir of Varud taluka of Amravati district.

According to the sources, the victim was into cow herding business in Ekalvihir under Varud-taluka and was grazing the cows for the last 20 to 30 years. The incident came to light when the deceased's husband Shalikram Dhurve got to know that his wife did not return home after grazing in the field.

Soon after getting the information, the forest personnel initiated the search following which she was found dead nearby.

The Varud police have been informed about the incident and the dog squad, forensic team and forest department employees have reached the spot. The deceased's family includes husband Shalikram Dhurve, son Shekhar aged 20 years, and daughter Shubhangi aged 18 years. Notably, the death of the victim has raised several doubts, as the police are still searching for the accused. No case has been registered so far.

Another such incident has come into light which has surfaced from Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyala district where an eight-year-old girl was gang-raped by three of her school seniors aged 12 and 13, who after committing crime, murdered her and dumped her body in an irrigation canal.

The police has detained all the three accused and have started the investigation in the case.
