New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the state assembly elections are expected to take place in the second week of November. Shinde, in an informal discussion with mediapersons at his official residence 'Varsha' in Mumbai, revealed that seat-sharing arrangements among the ruling coalition will be finalized within the next 8 to 10 days. The state, with its 288-member assembly, may undergo a two-phase polling process.

Key areas of focus

The Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has placed a strong emphasis on development projects and welfare schemes aimed at improving the lives of Maharashtra's citizens. These initiatives, which are gaining widespread approval from the public, are designed to boost the state's infrastructure and social welfare, positioning the alliance as one focused on progress and people-centric governance.

A key area of focus for Shinde's government is the redevelopment of slums in Mumbai, one of the city's most pressing challenges. Shinde has made it clear that his administration is committed to making Mumbai slum-free by launching comprehensive redevelopment projects that not only improve living conditions but also ensure that displaced residents are provided with affordable housing options.

Shinde's collaborative plan

To make Mumbai a slum-free city, Shinde outlined a collaborative plan involving key agencies like the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The objective is to accelerate the redevelopment of slum areas while ensuring housing solutions for all.
