Maharashtra News: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra has finalized its seat-sharing formula for the upcoming state Assembly elections. According to sources, the Congress party will contest 105 to 110 seats, Uddhav Thackerays Shiv Sena (UBT) will field candidates in 90 to 95 constituencies, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar will contest in 75 to 80 seats.MVA aims to defeat the Mahayuti allianceThe MVA, which was formed after the 2019 elections, is seeking to unseat the ruling Mahayuti alliance comprising the BJP, the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction. The opposition parties are hopeful of replicating their strong performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where they secured 30 seats compared to the Mahayutis 17. Notably, Congress won 13 of the 17 seats it contested, while Shiv Sena-UBT secured 9 out of 21 seats.Resolving seat-sharing disagreementsEarlier, internal differences over seat distribution had surfaced within the MVA. Tensions flared between Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and Congresss Nana Patole, resulting in public exchanges of criticism. To address the rift, a nine-hour marathon meeting was held at the Trident Hotel in South Mumbai. Sources revealed that after intense discussions, MVA leaders reached out to Sharad Pawar to mediate and help finalize the seat-sharing arrangement.Maharashtra elections scheduled for NovemberThe state Assembly election for Maharashtras 288 constituencies will be conducted in a single phase on November 20, with results set to be declared on November 23. Both alliances are gearing up for a highly competitive electoral battle as they vie for control of the state.
