Jalna: The health of Shivba Sanghatana leader Manoj Jarange-Patil has significantly deteriorated as he enters the fifth day of his sixth hunger strike, according to his party members. The activist, who has been fasting to demand reservations for the Maratha community, has alarmed his supporters with his declining condition.

Jarange-Patil's condition deteriorates

Since Friday afternoon, Jarange-Patil appeared visibly weak and unwell. His supporters grew increasingly worried as they observed him lying face down, seemingly restless, and largely unresponsive to those around him. By Friday evening, his condition took a turn for the worse when he attempted to stand and address his followers but was unable to support his own weight. He suddenly collapsed, and for a brief moment, he appeared motionless.

Fortunately, his aides were nearby and managed to catch him before he fell to the ground, preventing any further harm. They helped him sit upright, after which he rested again at the protest site, regaining some composure.

Supporters' emotional pleas

Throughout Friday night, many of Jarange-Patil’s concerned followers, including several tearful women, pleaded with him to end his hunger strike. Their emotional appeals urged him to take some form of medication to improve his health, but Jarange-Patil remained steadfast in his decision to continue the strike without medical intervention.

State minister reach out to Patil

State Minister Shambhuraj Desai reached out to Jarange-Patil, urging him to seek medical attention. Despite the minister’s request and the persistent efforts of Jarange-Patil’s close aides to convince him to prioritize his health, he initially resisted. However, in the early hours of Saturday morning, Jarange-Patil finally relented and agreed to receive some medical treatment, though he remains firm in his larger protest demands.

As Jarange-Patil’s health continues to decline, concerns grow among his supporters and political figures alike, hoping that the activist will reconsider his stance before his condition worsens further.
