In a major step to check the rising incidence of cancer, the Maharashtra government has decided to provide free cancer vaccination to girls till the age of 14. State Health Minister Prakash Abitkar made this announcement, highlighting that this was done in view of the rising incidence of cancer cases in the country.
Cancer has been spreading rampantly, largely due to modern lifestyles and dietary changes. Experts believe that timely prevention and vaccination can be helpful in protecting individuals from this deadly disease. In light of this, the government of Maharashtra launched a free anti-cancer vaccine campaign to ensure young girls' safety from risks in the times to come.
The Ministry of Health has said that the program is specifically aimed at providing early protection against cancer, but only for girls between the ages of 0 to 14 years. By providing the vaccine at an early age, the government wants to reduce the likelihood of cancer much later in life. The program will be implemented in phases in Maharashtra in order to cover the largest population.
In order to make it simple for citizens, the free cancer vaccine will be made available by the state government hospitals and health centers. Further, the campaign will also take place in both urban and rural areas in an effort to sensitize the populace on the benefits of the immunization program. All these steps are aimed at encouraging additional families to utilize this scheme and shield their children against the threats posed by cancer.
This historic ruling by the Maharashtra government is a forward-thinking step towards cancer prevention and the formation of public health, ensuring a healthier future for girls in the state.
