Nearly 15 leaders could go as Union Council of Ministers as BJP's top brass has started discussion on the same. Narendra Modi will take oath as Prime Minister on Sunday at 7.15 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Along with him, his cabinet will also be sworn in by President Draupadi Murmu.

According to the sources, senior BJP leaders Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh were involved in a discussion with party President JP Nadda on Friday evening to decide on the names. Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, and Sameer Bhujbal of the NCP allegedly attended the initial meeting, which was then attended by RLD president Jayant Choudhary.

Sources claim that the BJP wants to retain control over the important Raisina Hill ministries of finance, defense, home affairs, and information technology in addition to a few other important ministries like railways, road transport, law, and education.

It is believed that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) may get three berths each including a cabinet post and two ministers in state. However, the picture will get clearer when Narendra Modi will take oath as Prime Minister on Sunday.

JD-U has won 12 seats, but TDP which has 16 seats, seems to have more weight. Sources also claim that the JD-U is said to be eying the coveted Railways Ministry, Agriculture and Rural Development.

Participation of ally in NDA

In the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the NDA-led BJP alone has captured 240 seats. After this, 14 parties included in the NDA have won 53 seats. That is, the number of NDA MPs is 293. After BJP, the party with the highest number of MPs in NDA is TDP, which has 16 MPs. After this, JDU has 12 MPs, Shiv Sena (Shinde) has 7, LJP (Ram Vilas Paswan/Chirag Paswan) has 5, JDS has 2, RLD has 2, AJSU has 1, HAM has 1, NCP (Ajit Pawar) has 1, Apna Dal (Sonelal) has 1, AGP has 1, SKM has 1 and UPPL has 1.

If sources are to be believed, 15 to 20 ministries can be given to 14 NDA allies by the BJP. Among these, the maximum ministries can go to TDP and JDU. Apart from this, other parties can also be included in the cabinet.
