Uttar Pradesh: As Mahakumbh 2025 continues, social media is flooded with viral videos showcasing different aspects of the grand religious gathering. Among the trending clips, a new video is making waves, claiming that a young boy is earning ₹1,000 per hour by setting up a mobile charging station at the fair—without any investment.

What does the viral video claim?

The video, reportedly posted on Instagram by the account "malaram_yadav_alampur01", claims that a boy has found a unique way to make money at Mahakumbh. The narrator in the video explains that the boy sets up a charging board capable of charging 20 phones at a time and charges ₹50 per device, resulting in earnings of ₹1,000 per hour. The video further asserts that electricity is provided for free at the fair, making it a zero-investment, high-profit business.

Social media reactions: Real or fake?

The video has sparked mixed reactions from users. While some find the claim intriguing, others have dismissed it as misleading or fake news. One user commented: "Brother, don't lie, we got it done, no one takes money." Another user wrote: "It is free, there is no money." A third user simply stated: "Fake news."
Many users agreed that phone charging at Mahakumbh is provided free of cost, questioning the credibility of the video’s claim.

Fact-check: Is the claim true?

While makeshift businesses do emerge during Mahakumbh, the claim that charging services are being monetized in a free-electricity zone raises doubts. In previous Kumbh Melas, official charging stations were set up for pilgrims at no cost, making it unlikely that people would pay ₹50 for charging when free options are available.

While Mahakumbh offers various business opportunities, the viral claim of earning ₹1,000 per hour from mobile charging remains questionable. With social media divided, it’s essential to verify such claims before believing or sharing them.
