Seven pilgrims returning from the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, died in a tragic road accident near Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred when a truck traveling on the wrong side of the highway collided with their mini-bus around 8:30 am.

The impact resulted in the immediate death of seven passengers, with several others trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to extricate the victims. The deceased pilgrims were reportedly from Andhra Pradesh. District Collector Deepak Kumar Saxena and Jabalpur's superintendent of police went to the accident site following the crash.
In a separate incident, two people were killed, and five others were injured when an unidentified vehicle hit their SUV near Kanchanpur village on National Highway 30 in Maihar. The SUV was also returning from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and heading towards Indore. The deceased were identified as Manju Sharma, 32, and Manoj Vishwakarma, 42. The injured were taken to Satna district hospital. Police are investigating the accident and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the vehicle.
In another accident involving pilgrims returning from the Maha Kumbh Mela, a collision between a truck and an auto resulted in the death of three people. The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday near the Muthani area in the Mohania police station area of Kaimur district.
Prior to the Mela, 40 Nepalese pilgrims were injured when their bus, heading towards Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, met with an accident in the Babai area of the Surkhet district in western Nepal on Sunday. The accident occurred around 5:30 pm, with rescue operations carried out by Nepal Police and local volunteers. The injured were admitted to Kohalpur Medical College for treatment; six were in critical condition.
