New Delhi: A shocking and distressing incident has emerged from Satna district, Madhya Pradesh, where on August 27, several individuals were filmed throwing cows into an overflowing river under a railway bridge near Bamhor in the Raigaon area. The incident was captured in a viral video, showing cows being pushed into the river’s strong current from a stop dam, with some struggling to swim.

The video depicts a harrowing scene where cows, unable to control themselves due to the powerful river flow, are seen floundering in the water. Some of the animals attempt to swim, but the strong currents render their efforts futile, leading to a critical situation. Following the incident, local authorities in Nagaud acted swiftly to address the situation, launching an investigation.

Four suspects identified amid rising death toll

According to Ashok Pandey, the in-charge of Nagaud police station, four individuals have been identified in connection with the incident: Beta Bagri, Ravi Bagri, Rampal Chaudhary, and Rajlu Chaudhary. A case has been filed against them under the Madhya Pradesh Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code. This law prohibits the killing and cruelty towards cows.

Reports indicate that approximately 50 cows were thrown into the river, with fears that 15 to 20 of these animals might have perished. The exact number of fatalities has not yet been confirmed. The police are currently conducting a search for the deceased cows and continuing their investigation into the matter. Given the severity of the incident, a rescue operation has been launched to locate the dead bodies and identify all involved parties. The local community has been deeply affected by this event, and there are high expectations for justice and swift action from the authorities.
