Lucknow: Three-storey pharmaceutical company building collapses, 4 dead, several feared trapped

New Delhi: A three-storey building in Lucknow's Transport Nagar collapsed, leaving at least four people dead on Saturday. Emergency responders successfully rescued 28 individuals from the rubble, but several others are still feared to be trapped beneath the debris, according to officials on the scene.

The building, located just a few steps away from Shaheed Path, is believed to have collapsed due to a weakened foundation caused by waterlogging in the area. Reports suggest that the building had been neglected for some time and lacked proper maintenance, further contributing to its collapse.

Rescue operations underway

As soon as the building fell, local residents rushed to the site in an attempt to help those trapped. The police were also quick to respond to the scene. Rescue operations are currently being handled by teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), who were informed immediately after the collapse. Efforts to retrieve the trapped individuals are ongoing.

Authorities respond to incident

The District Magistrate and Municipal Commissioner have arrived at the location to oversee the rescue operations, while firefighters continue to sift through the rubble in search of survivors. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also taken swift action, instructing the police and administration officers to reach the site and coordinate the rescue efforts.

The situation remains critical, with rescue teams working against the clock to ensure the safety of those trapped under the debris.
