A shocking incident has emerged from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a 30-year-old delivery agent, Bharat Sahu, was allegedly strangled to death after delivering an iPhone worth Rs 1.5 lakh. The delivery was made to a customer identified as Gajanan, who had placed the order through Flipkart on September 23, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh.

According to the sources, Gajanan, residing in the Chinhat area of Lucknow, opted for the cash-on-delivery payment method. When Sahu failed to return home for two days, his family grew concerned and filed a missing person's report with the police. The investigation led officers to Gajanan's phone number, prompting them to interview one of his friends, Akash, who eventually confessed to the crime.

Police reports indicate that Gajanan and Akash allegedly strangled Sahu, then concealed his body in a sack and disposed of it in the Indira Canal. The authorities are currently collaborating with the State Disaster Response Force to locate Sahu's remains.

This tragic case highlights the growing concerns for the safety of delivery personnel in India. Similar incidents have been reported in recent years, including the murder of a food delivery worker in Bengaluru during a robbery attempt in 2021 and the fatal stabbing of a delivery agent in Noida over a payment dispute in 2022.

The investigation in the case is underway.
