On Wednesday morning, panic spread across the Naveen Mandi bridge on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway after the body of a young man was discovered hanging from a pole. The grim discovery was made by passersby, who immediately alerted the Kotwali police. Authorities arrived promptly at the scene and, following an initial investigation, sent the body for a postmortem.

Suspicion of Foul Play

The victim, believed to be around 40 years old, had severe injuries to his head, suggesting that he may have been attacked with a sharp weapon before being hanged. This has led investigators to suspect that the man was murdered and then hung from the pole to stage the scene as a suicide. The police are actively pursuing the case and working to uncover the identity of the victim.

Police Respond Quickly to the Scene

The body was discovered hanging from a streetlight pole on the Naveen Mandi bridge, located under the jurisdiction of Kila Chowki. The sight of the body caused a commotion among the public, leading concerned citizens to call emergency services via Dial 112.

Officers from Kotwali and Dahi police stations responded to the scene, lowering the body from the pole and finding the victim’s head covered in blood. Authorities believe the attackers may have staged the hanging in an attempt to cover up the murder. Despite efforts to identify the deceased through local residents, police were unable to make any progress in that regard. The body has been sent for post-mortem as the investigation continues.

Inspector Pramod Kumar Mishra of Kotwali described the case as suspicious and stated that the police are examining several potential leads.

CCTV Footage Under Review

With the crime occurring on a busy highway, police have launched an extensive investigation. Authorities are not only focused on identifying the victim but are also working to track down those responsible for the heinous crime. As part of their efforts, police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from shops and businesses located along the highway in hopes of gathering valuable evidence.
