Former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, addressing a rally in Tukkugunda ahead of the Telangana elections, announced a package of six guarantees aimed at improving the lives of the state’s residents if the Congress party were to come into power.

The guarantees include a promise of Rs 2,500 per month for women, gas cylinders priced at Rs 500, and 200 units of free electricity for all households. Speaking about her desire to witness a Congress-led government in Telangana, Mrs. Gandhi highlighted her connection to the birth of Telangana and her commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of its people.

“To fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana, we (Congress) are announcing six guarantees, with Mahalakshmi being the first one. We are committed to fulfilling each one of them”, Sonia Gandhi declared at the public rally known as the Vijayabheri Sabha in Tukkuguda.

Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, women in Telangana will receive financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month. In addition, gas cylinders will be made available at an affordable price of Rs 500, and women will enjoy free travel on TSRC buses throughout the state.

While concluding the speech, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi expressed her desire to elevate Telangana to new heights, echoing her dream of witnessing a Congress government in the state that would work for the welfare of all its citizens. She called upon the public for their support.

Earlier, the two-day Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad concluded with party leaders expressing optimism about securing a “clear mandate” in the upcoming assembly elections in five states.
