New Delhi: A troubling case of love jihad has surfaced in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, as a girl went missing from her home in Bhojipura on July 13. After an extensive search by her family, it was discovered that a young man from another community had kidnapped her, forcibly converted her religion in Karnataka, and married her. The girl's father, a Home Guard jawan, reported the incident to the local police.

Kidnapping and Forced Conversion

According to the Home Guard jawan's complaint, his daughter was kidnapped on July 13 by a young man named Arshad, a resident of Bhojipura. Arshad took her to Karnataka, where he converted her religion and married her. The family had been desperately searching for her when the jawan received a threatening call from a Pakistani number.

Threatening Call from Pakistan

The Home Guard jawan recounted to the police that he received a WhatsApp call from a person claiming to be a police officer. The caller, whose photo depicted a policeman, warned the jawan to forget about his daughter and withdraw the police report, or face severe consequences. The call was abruptly disconnected when the jawan tried to inquire about his daughter's whereabouts.

The cyber police are now investigating the call while efforts continue to locate the girl and Arshad. Phalwada police station in-charge, Rajesh Kamboj, stated, "We have registered a case and recorded the victim's statement. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused and determine the role of others involved."
