The first list of candidates for the next Lok Sabha elections 2024 was finalized by the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) during a meeting on Thursday. The mystery regarding the seats that the Gandhis would represent, however, persisted as the list was not made public that day. Sources claim that the first list will be made public on Friday.

The party's Kerala screening committee has recommended Rahul Gandhi for the Wayanad seat. Rahul Gandhi, the current Wayanad MP, is expected to run for the seat again, according to reports.

It's unclear as of yet, though, if Rahul Gandhi will run from Wayanad in addition to returning to his turf Amethi.

But it is anticipated that Rahul Gandhi will contest again from his seat Wayanad in Kerala, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel from Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon and Jyotsna Mahant from Korba.

Congress Party second CEC meeting to be held on March 11

The next list of candidates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be discussed during the Congress party's second Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting, which is scheduled for March 11 in Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi arrived at the party headquarters on Thursday for a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) to consider candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.

“We finalized seats from Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Lakshadweep. The procedure is going on; formal announcement will be made very soon,” Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said after meeting.
