Lok Sabha Elections 2024: PM Modi thank party as BJP announces first list of candidates

BJP announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, thanked the party and its members on Saturday for their continuous support of him. For the third time in a row, PM Modi is all set to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Taking it to his X handle, PM Modi tweeted, “I look forward to serving my sisters and brothers of Kashi for the third time.”

He also thanked party members for have continues faith in him. PM Modi further assured that he will make continued efforts to work for the people of Kashi and the country. 

PM Modi extends wishes to nominated candidates

In a string of tweets, PM Modi extended wishes to the candidates who have been nominated in the first list. He mentioned, “I am sure that the 140 crore people of India will bless us yet again and give us even more strength in fulfilling their aspirations and creating a Viksit Bharat.”

Days after an all-night meeting of the party's Central Election Committee (CEC), presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP unveiled their initial list of 195 candidates for the next Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP has 28 women, 47 youth, 27 Scheduled Castes, 18 Scheduled Tribes, and 57 Other Backward Classes on its initial list of 195 candidates. 51 candidates from Uttar Pradesh, 24 from Madhya Pradesh, 15 from Gujarat and Rajasthan, 20 from West Bengal, 12 from Kerala, 11 from Assam, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, 9 from Telangana, 5 from Delhi, 2 from Jammu and Kashmir, 2 from Arunachal Pradesh, 1 from Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as well as Daman and Diu, were announced by the party.
