The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on Saturday. The list includes 34 Union Ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The much-anticipated list was presented by the party with the adoption of numerous significant decisions. The Bharatiya Janata Party has virtually announced its intention to contest in the Lok Sabha elections in this list.

Who got the chance from where?

The decision about the list was made on February 29 during a meeting that was attended by BJP National President JP Nadda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The first list states that PM Modi will contest from Varanasi again. The list includes 34 Union Ministers and Ministers of State. The names of two former chief ministers and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, are also included. 28 of the applicants are female. 47 candidates are younger than 50. The list also includes 18 ST candidates and 27 SC candidates. Apart from this, 57 OBC candidates will contest out of these 195.

BJP announced candidates on 51 seats from Uttar Pradesh, 20 from West Bengal, 24 from Madhya Pradesh, 15 each from Gujarat and Rajasthan, 12 from Kerala, 9 seats from Telangana, 11 from Assam, 11 each from Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, 5 from Delhi, 2 from J&K, 3 from Uttarakhand, 2 from Arunachal Pradesh and 1 each from Goa, Tripura, Andaman & Nicobar and Daman & Diu.

Two leaders have already stepped aside:

Two well-known figures had already distanced themselves from the polls before the release of this BJP list. Both Jayant Sinha, the son of former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha, and East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir announced on Saturday that they will not be running for office in the next elections. The two leaders requested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi release them from the polls in a tweet.

According to the sources, it is said that the list has been prepared after long meetings. It is also said that only those MPs whose work the high command is not happy with have been excluded from the list this time.
