Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Congress likely to finalize candidates for remaining seats in CEC meeting today

The first list of 39 candidates of Congress party was made public on March 8 for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress party will hold its second meeting on Monday evening at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi.

According to the sources, the meeting will take place at 6 PM which will be presided by the national party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, are also anticipated to attend the meeting.

According to the reports, talks would take place over the Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.

Before this, Congress released its first list of candidates for 39 Lok Sabha constituencies on March 8.

The Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshwadeep, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana, and Tripura had their names announced.

16 candidates from Kerala, 7 from Karnataka, 6 from Chhattisgarh, and 4 from Telangana are among the 39 total candidates that have been declared. There were one each from Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, and Lakshwadeep, and two from Meghalaya.
Following the first meeting of the Central Election Committee on March 7, the list of 39 candidates was made public.

"Of these 39 candidates, 15 are from the General category and 24 are from SC, ST, OBC, and minorities," KC Venugopal stated in his remarks at the press conference.

In addition to this, the initial list of 195 candidates put forth by the BJP has also been announced. The upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are expected to take place in April and May.
