Lok Sabha Elections 2024: In a surprising turn of events, Apna Dal (K) officially severed ties with the opposition INDIA bloc on Sunday, opting to collaborate with Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM to forge a new front ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The alliance between Apna Dal and AIMIM formed PDM Nyay Morcha, a coalition aimed at advocating for the rights of marginalized communities, including Pichda, Dalits, and Muslims. This initiative mirrors the objectives of the previously formed PDA, championed by Apna Dal's former ally, the Samajwadi Party.

Apna Dal's departure from INDIA bloc

Krishna Patel, the leader of Apna Dal, clarified the party's disassociation from the INDIA bloc, emphasizing that the alliance with the Samajwadi Party no longer stands.

Allegations against Akhilesh Yadav

Patel attributed the split to Akhilesh Yadav, accusing the SP chief of reneging on their alliance agreement, allegedly stipulating that the collaboration was only valid for the 2022 Assembly elections.

Formation of PDM Nyay Morcha

In a joint press conference, Apna Dal, AIMIM, and other political leaders announced the formation of the PDM Nyay Morcha, with the objective of promoting justice and equality for marginalized communities.

Patel highlighted the need for transparent and unambiguous political alliances, citing the confusion surrounding the interpretation of the letter 'A' in the previous PDA alliance. The new coalition seeks to address this confusion by focusing on the plight of those subjected to social, economic, and political exploitation.

Expressing optimism, Owaisi stressed the importance of extending the fight for justice beyond parliamentary elections. Krishna Patel urged all parties under the PDM Nyay Morcha banner to unite and strengthen the alliance in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Recent developments

The decision to break away from the INDIA bloc stemmed from Apna Dal's dissatisfaction over the lack of seat allocation for the Lok Sabha elections. The rift between Apna Dal and SP became apparent during the Rajya Sabha elections, culminating in Apna Dal's insistence on supporting only PDA-endorsed candidates.
