The much-awaited reunion of former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to unfold in Agra on Sunday, February 25, marking their collaboration in Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra after a hiatus of nearly seven years.

The resurgence of political fervor gains momentum with the impending Lok Sabha elections, notably in Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav, former UP Chief Minister and leader of the Samajwadi Party, will join forces with Rahul Gandhi in Agra, igniting memories of their joint campaign during the 2017 UP assembly elections.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: INDIA alliance revitalized

Following the finalization of a seat-sharing agreement between the Samajwadi Party and Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi extended an invitation to Akhilesh Yadav to participate in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Accepting the invitation promptly, Akhilesh Yadav expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting its focus on backward, dalit, and minority communities, aligning with the SP's core objectives in UP.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Seat allocation agreement

The collaboration between the Samajwadi Party and Congress, as part of the INDIA Alliance, gains renewed vigor after the recent seat-sharing agreement. Initially met with reluctance from Akhilesh Yadav, discussions between the parties led to a resolution, paving the way for their joint participation in the yatra.

Under the agreed-upon arrangement, the Samajwadi Party allocated 17 seats to Congress out of Uttar Pradesh's 80 Lok Sabha seats, while retaining 63 seats for itself. Key constituencies allotted to Congress include Amethi, Rae Bareli, Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, and Ghaziabad, among others.
