Akhilesh family is the biggest political family in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, the family of former Chief Minister Late Mulayam Singh Yadav remains the largest political family in the state. Be it Mulayam's son Akhilesh Yadav or his brother Shivpal Yadav and cousin Ramgopal Yadav, all people and their generations are in politics. There are more than 25 people in this family who are active in politics. We are telling you about these.

Mevaram was the father of Mulayam Singh Yadav

We start this family from Mulayam Singh Yadav's grandfather and try to tell you about this family in an easy way. Mulayam Singh Baba's name was Mevaram. They had two sons. Sughar Singh and Bachhilal Singh. Sughar Singh had five sons. These include Mulayam Singh Yadav, Ratan Singh, Rajpal Singh Yadav, Abhay Ram Singh and Shivpal Singh Yadav. Among the brothers, Mulayam Singh is the third and Shivpal Singh is the youngest.

Political journey of Mulayam family

1. Abhay Ram Yadav: Abhay Ram was the eldest among Mulayam's five brothers. Dharmendra Yadav is his son. Dharmendra has been MP thrice. Became Lok Sabha MP from Mainpuri for the first time in 2004. Then won from Badaun in 2009 and again in 2014. He lost in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.  

2. Ratan Singh Yadav: Mulayam Singh's second brother is Ratan Singh. Former Mainpuri MP Tej Pratap Yadav is the grandson of Ratan Singh. Tej Pratap's father is Ranveer Singh. Tej Pratap is married to the daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. Tej Pratap is Lalu's son-in-law. 

3. Mulayam Singh Yadav: Mulayam Singh Yadav was born on 22 November 1939. Mulayam was the third of five brothers. Mulayam founded Samajwadi Party on 4 October 1992. Mulayam Singh first married Malti Devi. Akhilesh Yadav is the son of Mulayam and Malti Devi. Along with being the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh was also the Defense Minister of the country.

4. Akhilesh-Dimple Yadav: Akhilesh Yadav was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and is currently the President of SP. Akhilesh married Dimple Yadav on 24 November 1999. Dimple has also been an MP. She lost the 2019 elections from Kannauj.

5. Prateek-Aparna Yadav:  Mulayam Singh Yadav married Sadhna Gupta for the second time. Sadhna and Mulayam's son is Prateek Yadav. Prateek is married to Aparna Yadav. Prateek Yadav stays away from politics. His wife Aparna Yadav is in politics and has joined BJP. 

6. Rajpal Singh Yadav: Rajpal Singh is fourth among Mulayam's five brothers. Rajpal is younger than Mulayam. Rajpal's son Anshul is in active politics. Anshul has been elected District Panchayat President twice unopposed. Rajpal's wife Premlata Yadav is also in politics. In 2005, Premlata was the first woman from the Yadav family to enter politics. After this, Shivpal Singh Yadav's wife Sarla Yadav, Akhilesh's wife Dimple Yadav, and Prateek Yadav's wife Aparna Yadav entered politics. 

7. Shivpal Singh Yadav: Shivpal Singh Yadav is the youngest brother of Mulayam. Before the 2017 assembly elections, when there was a rift between Mulayam's elder son Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Singh Yadav, Shivpal had formed a separate party. Shivpal is in active politics and his son Aditya Yadav is also in active politics.

8. Prof. Ramgopal Yadav: Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav's uncle Bachilal Singh. Bachilal has two children, Prof. Ram Gopal and daughter Geeta Yadav. Ram Gopal is also active in politics. In 2004, he left Mainpuri seat for Mulayam Singh Yadav. Pro. Ram Gopal Yadav's son Akshay Yadav is in active politics. He was elected MP from Firozabad on Samajwadi Party ticket in 2014.

  • Sarla Yadav: Sarla Yadav is the wife of Shivpal Singh Yadav. In 2007, Sarla was made the state representative of District Cooperative Bank Etawah.
  • Sandhya Yadav: Sandhya is the niece of Mulayam Singh and sister of former MP Dharmendra Singh Yadav. Has tried her luck in politics. He entered politics as District 3. Panchayat President. He was elected unopposed as District Panchayat President from Mainpuri. 
  • Arvind Yadav: Mulayam Singh Yadav's cousin Prof. Arvind Yadav is the son of Ram Gopal Yadav's real sister Geeta Devi. In the year 2006, Arvind entered active politics.  
  • Sheela Yadav: Dharmendra Yadav's second sister Sheela Yadav is also in active politics. She has been a District Panchayat member thrice. Sheela's son Rahul is married to Dr. Isha, daughter of Sadhu Yadav, brother-in-law of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav.
  • Hariom Yadav: He is a close friend of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Won elections in 2012 and 2017 on SP ticket. Ranveer Singh Yadav was married to Mridula, daughter of Hariom's real brother Ramprakash Nehru. Ranveer is the son of Mulayam's elder brother Ratan Singh Yadav. Ranveer and Mridula's son Tej Pratap has also been an MP from Mainpuri. Now have joined the BJP. 
  • Anurag Yadav: Anurag is the younger brother of Dharmendra Yadav who has tried his luck in active politics. In the 2017 assembly elections, SP made him its candidate from Sarojini Nagar seat of Lucknow. However, Anurag lost the election.
