In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning, a contracted line worker, Manoj, lost his life while repairing a high-tension (HT) line in Rajpur town, Kanpur Dehat. Manoj had climbed the pole to fix a fault with the power supply turned off, but unexpectedly, the line was activated, resulting in a fatal electric shock. The intense surge caused a powerful explosion, scattering parts of his body, including his head, legs, and lower torso, across the area.

Upon hearing of the accident, Manoj’s father, Dwarika Prasad, and other family members arrived at the scene, overwhelmed with grief upon witnessing the devastating condition of his remains. Enraged and devastated, the family, along with local residents, protested on Mughal Road, accusing the electricity department of negligence and demanding accountability.

In response, law enforcement from multiple police stations, along with SDM Sikandra S.N. Shukla and CO Sanjay Kumar, arrived at the protest site. Officials attempted to pacify the family, promising an investigation, but the family and local community continued to insist on disciplinary action against those responsible within the electricity department, as well as compensation for Manoj’s family. Efforts are ongoing to resolve the situation and address the demands.
