Lightning strikes in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh claim 11 lives

In Sangramgarh, Arti Mishra (40) and her daughter Ananya Mishra (15) tragically lost their lives to lightning strikes in Bharatpur village. Additionally, Suryakali (65) from Naya Purwa died while working in her field. Under Jethwara police station, Aradhana Saroj (48) succumbed to lightning, and in Antoo police station, Vijay Kumar (45) lost his life while tending to his goats in Neem Dabha village.

New Delhi: At least 11 people lost their lives and one sustained serious injuries in multiple incidents of lightning strikes across different police circles in Pratapgarh district on Wednesday. The incidents have prompted joint efforts by police and district administration to assess the situation and provide necessary support to affected families.

Fatal incidents across district

The fatalities occurred in various villages under the Sangramgarh, Jethwara, Antoo, Manikpur, and Kandhai police circles. In Manikpur, three individuals - Kranti Vishwakarma (20), Guddu Saroj (40), and Pankaj Tripathi (45) - lost their lives in separate lightning strikes.

Injuries and hospital admissions

Shiv Patel (24) from Mannar was admitted to a hospital in Raebareli for treatment after being struck by lightning. Meanwhile, Arjun (45) and his wife Suman (40) from Purshottampur succumbed to lightning while working in their field under the Kandhai police circle.

The incidents underscore the dangers posed by natural calamities during the monsoon season, prompting heightened vigilance and precautionary measures among residents of Pratapgarh district.
