Following a mandate from insurance regulator IRDAI, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Saturday, provided discounts to lessen the hardships experienced by policy claimants and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana beneficiaries who were impacted by Cyclone Biparjoy.

According to LIC, many lives have been lost, it is nevertheless reaching out to the impacted individuals to offer support.

According to the statement, nodal officers have been designated at the divisional level to serve as the point of contact for the State Government’s Chief, Secretary, and relevant Officer.

Apart from this, LIC has also created a portal for the online submission of the claims arising due to Cyclone Biparjoy. On Thursday night, Bijarjoy made landfall on the Kutch coast, causing property damage and infrastructural damage in the cyclone-affected States.

Before this, relaxation was announced for the victims of Odisha’s Balasore triple train accidents. Taking it to Twitter Siddhartha Mohanty, Chairperson, LIC expressed grief to the victims of the Balasore, Odisha triple train mishap and announced some relaxations for the victims. He said, “Thanks to pre-emptive actions taken, the loss of lives has been minimal, however, we are reaching out to the affected people to assist.”

In a press release, LIC of India mentioned, “Shri. Siddhartha Mohanty, Chairperson, LIC, announced many concessions to mitigate the hardships of the claimants of LIC Policies and also of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. In lieu of registered death certificates, list of casualties published by Railway Authorities, Police or any State or Central Government Authorities will be accepted as proof of death. Special Help Desk has been set up at Divisional and Branch level to respond to claim related queries and for providing assistance to claimants.”
