In Delhi's Patiala House Court, a major development unfolded concerning a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case involving former WFI Chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. This legal matter stems from a complaint filed by a minor female wrestler.

The Delhi Police submitted a cancellation report, citing the victim's retraction of her previous statement. This action led to a legal debate, which prompted the court to defer its decision until July 27, 2024. During a previous court session on August 1, 2023, the minor wrestler and her father did not contest the cancellation report, expressing satisfaction with the police investigation.

Legal proceedings

The court's decision followed a series of closed-door hearings, conducted under 'In Camera Proceedings,' where the victim and her father appeared before the court. The cancellation report, consisting of over 500 pages, was submitted by the Delhi Police on June 15, 2024.

Additional legal ramifications

In a separate case, a charge sheet was filed against Singh and Vinod Tomar in the Rouse Avenue Court, concerning allegations of sexual harassment. The Rouse Avenue Court, in its recent ruling, directed the framing of charges against Singh and Tomar, marking another significant development in the legal proceedings.

Brij Bhushan confident of gaining votes despite harassment allegations

On the other hand, expressing confidence in his son Karan Singh's electoral success in the Kaisarganj Lok Sabha constituency, Brij Bhushan Singh dismissed concerns over the sexual harassment allegations raised by female wrestlers. He asserted that these accusations would, in fact, bolster support for his party, rather than hinder it.

"We anticipate gaining more votes due to these allegations," Singh remarked confidently during a press interaction in Kaisarganj on May 20. He emphasized, "The primary issue in Kaisarganj is Brij Bhushan Singh."

Here's what he said:

Singh further expressed optimism about the victory of Prime Minister Modi's government, predicting a landslide victory. Despite various distractions, he remained steadfast in his belief that these issues would not impact the electoral outcome. Singh exercised his franchise at a polling station in Kaiserganj on Monday.
