In the midst of a brewing controversy, Prajwal Revanna, the suspended leader from the Janata Dal (Secular), faces an arrest warrant following the circulation of explicit videos allegedly involving him. The scandal triggered a legal pursuit, with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) seeking permission from the court to issue the warrant against Revanna.
The scandal erupted when multiple videos depicting sexual abuse by Prajwal Revanna surfaced online, just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka. Revanna, who was contesting as the JD(S)-BJP joint candidate from Haasan, found himself embroiled in a storm of allegations.
He is currently believed to be in Germany. Revanna faces a barrage of charges including rape, molestation, intimidation, blackmail, and threats. Interpol has issued a blue corner notice against him, intensifying efforts to bring him to justice.
In the legal arena, Prajwal Revanna's father, HD Revanna, also a prominent figure, secured an extension on his interim anticipatory bail until May 20. HD Revanna was arrested by the SIT on May 4 in connection with an alleged kidnapping case involving a woman who claims to have been raped by Prajwal Revanna.
With the Congress government forming an SIT to investigate the cases, tensions escalated as the BJP and JD(S) demanded a transfer of the investigations to the CBI. Moreover, there are calls for action against those responsible for circulating the explicit videos, further intensifying the political turmoil surrounding the scandal.
