New Delhi: Actor Salman Khan has revealed that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was behind the recent firing outside his home. This statement was made to the anti-extortion cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch and is part of the chargesheet filed earlier this month. In his statement, Salman Khan shared that the firing occurred in the early hours of April 14 while he was sleeping. "I heard a cracker-like sound. Then, around 4:55 AM, the police bodyguard said that two people on a bike had fired at the Galaxy Apartment's first-floor balcony," he recounted. Khan believes that Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang were responsible for the attack.
Salman Khan also detailed the history of threats he and his family have received from Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang. He mentioned that in 2022, his father, Salim Khan, found a threatening letter on a bench opposite their apartment building. In March 2023, an email was received from an employee in his team, threatening him and his family. After this incident, a case was registered at the Bandra police station.
The actor revealed that in January, two individuals tried to trespass using fake identities at his farmhouse in Panvel. "I learnt from police that the two accused who had tried to trespass at the farmhouse were from Fazilka village in Rajasthan, which is the village of Lawrence Bishnoi," Khan said.
In response to these threats, Salman Khan has asked his family members and relatives to remain vigilant at all times. The Mumbai Police have also provided him with Y-plus security.
On April 14, two men on a bike fired multiple rounds outside Salman Khan's residence. The alleged shooters, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, were arrested from Gujarat. Six people have been arrested in connection with the case, with one, Anuj Thapan, committing suicide in police custody on May 1. The Mumbai Police filed a chargesheet against five people accused of plotting to assassinate Salman Khan. It revealed a contract worth Rs 25 lakh to kill the actor and that the accused, part of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang, was planning to acquire modern weapons.
The police have registered a case against 17 individuals, including Lawrence Bishnoi and his younger brother Anmol Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi is currently in Sabarmati prison in Ahmedabad.
