Lawrence Bishnoi's jail expenses: In a significant revelation, the cousin of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, currently incarcerated in Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has claimed that the family spends between Rs 35 to 40 lakh per year on his care. This disclosure sheds light on the high costs involved in maintaining Bishnoi’s lifestyle, even while he remains behind bars.

According to Bishnoi's cousin, the family’s financial commitment continues despite the gangster’s imprisonment. "Although Lawrence is in jail, we spend around Rs 35-40 lakh annually for his care," the cousin revealed, adding that the family never anticipated that the 31-year-old, a law graduate from Punjab University, would turn to a life of crime.

From law graduate to infamous gangster

Ramesh Bishnoi, a 50-year-old relative, said that Lawrence came from a prosperous background. "We have always been wealthy. Lawrence’s father served as a constable in the Haryana Police and owns 110 acres of land in our village. Lawrence was always seen wearing expensive clothes and shoes," Ramesh added. He further emphasized that the family continues to support Lawrence financially, spending heavily on him while he remains in jail.

High-profile cases linked to Lawrence Bishnoi

In recent years, Lawrence Bishnoi’s name has been associated with multiple high-profile cases, raising his notoriety across the country. Notably, his gang was allegedly involved in the murder of Maharashtra politician Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai. Siddiqui’s close association with Bollywood actor Salman Khan is believed to have been a key factor in the crime.

Additionally, in May 2022, popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead, allegedly by members of the Bishnoi gang. The gang openly claimed responsibility for the killing, further solidifying Bishnoi’s role in organized crime.

Lawrence Bishnoi's imprisonment in Sabarmati Central Jail

Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail, where he is under investigation for multiple cases by both the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In August 2023, the Union Home Ministry issued an order prohibiting Bishnoi from being moved out of the jail for any reason. This order was extended for another year, indicating the government's serious concern over his potential influence and activities even while imprisoned.
